Crosby Garrett - a great place for ducks.

Our visit to see Jean in Cumbria had been arranged for about a week. We had been warned that the weather might be a little wet but we didn't quite expect so much rain to fall in one day!!
It started off not too bad on the M6 except for the fact that we had to go in the polo as Edward's car is in (dry) dock -

but then the further north we went the heavier the rain became -

visibility reduced considerably -

and then over the moors we almsot needed wellies in the car -

The sheep had water wings and the natives had webbed feet!

I think this was the feeder stream for the the road above!

I had hoped to take photos of the church but because of the weather we couldn't get near it. However there is a good view from Jean's bungalow. The church is visible over the rooftops so I just poked my head out through the front door during the 2 minutes when it stopped raining at about 2pm.

and this was taken in the same way about 5pm.

Needless to say we left quite early and made it home safe and sound. Next time we may have to take more notice of the weather forecast, but hang on I think that is the first day this year when it has been correct!!
