Martin Mere 2008

Downy Duckling week at Martin Mere has just finished. It is that time of year once again when all the babies are on show. There are still lots of eggs to hatch out and the nursery remains very busy.

This enormous mallard is patrolling the grounds and trying to have his wicked way with his counterparts!

Here he is near to a more normal sized mallard!

To date there are 9 baby flamingos.

Flamingo bath time -

and sleep time -
(and all on one leg!)

Stiff neck in the morning - never!

These City supporters get everywhere!

The regal black swan -

He was not pleased with us today as we didn't have any bread for him.

I'm still here -

and me too -

Although I should add that this Crowned Crane is the new female and is awaiting her companion.

And some flowers to finish -

See you thought you had escaped but no - here it is - the inevitable mole hill. They are still here in their hundreds by now I am sure.
