Volunteer work at Martin Mere

The best thing about working at Martin Mere is that when it's not too busy you are encouraged to go out and learn about the residents! So as Saturday was a rather quiet day I did just that, taking my camera with me of course.
The flamingo chicks seemed to be in the middle of a flying lesson but never quite made it off the ground.

See I can get one foot up!

By 4pm some of the ducks seemed tired and ready for bed - just like me really!

One proud mallard

Shellducks showing sisterly love (or is it brotherly love!?).

Please don't sit down just now.

The demoiselle cranes laid 2 eggs which were removed to the nursery for safety, these have now hatched and the babies were on display to the public for the first time on Saturday. The parents must have been upset or confused at the removal of the eggs and promptly laid 2 more eggs!

Changing guard at moorhen house!

Ooops!

Nearly there?

Wow it must be Christmas and birthday today!!!!
