At home August '07

Don't think this one needs any introduction.

We found this hedgehog wandering around the garden this afternoon. We couldn't work out why it had a bluish spot on one ear until we looked closely at this photo!

And look what we found nesting in the apple tree. No more apple pies for a while!

Sunsets again! 12/08/07

This was from my favourite spot on Shard Bridge but sadly due to slow moving traffic we were a bit late. Never mind there is always next time.
This was taken through the windscreen whilst travelling along the M55 towards Fleetwood.

Friends of the earth??

Well the dear little moles are still very active during the night. Last night they kindly dug 3 holes in the front garden!! Two were neatly tucked under the hedge but the third was slap bang in the middle of the lawn. I wish they would go back to the dual carriageway.

The apples are progressing nicely and will soon be ready to pick.

The mere again! July 07

Now if you look very carefully you will see that these whistling ducks are not quite as innocent as you may think!

The black headed swan is alive and kicking, he has been fooling us all, he is still at martin mere! Sue will be very pleased to hear this!!!

And here is the black swan, he wasn't very friendly today which is unusual but then i suppose we all have our off days.

The Chilean flamingo are still sitting, apparently there are 12 eggs!

Whilst the Greater Flamingo chicks have already hatched.

My friend was in a right strop today! He had been handed a white piece of paper by some child, he took it in his beak, dropped it and then started jumping on it and flying around his compound. He was not a happy chappy!

This nest was right on the edge of the path, every time anyone walked past the mother hopped off and went for a swim. Bet the chick was longing for closing time!

Sadly this looks like a poorly Eider unless it thinks it is a hamster.

Around the garden - July 07

We have a family of moles who seem to have made their home in and around our garden. Unfortunately, unless I stay up all night, I don't think I will get a photo of them - perhaps may be a mound or two would suffice?? I will see what I can do!

Some of our apples are just perfect -

Whilst some seem to be having an identity crisis!!
