Taken from our back door.

The story of my life - I go out and sun goes into hiding!

Don't know how this managed to get in here.

Saturday 28 April 2007

Sorry to be so boring but we have again returned to Martin Mere. There were a few more people there today but it is still so tranquil, I can go there and immediately forget all my problems!

The crowned crane seemed to remember us and definitely took a liking to Sarah's fingers.

This swan also seemed to like Sarah!

Can you spot the missing finger here?

This photo I must dedicate to Anya, I think she would have cropped it a little more but I wanted to preserve some of the surrounding area.
Well - go on I could have a go -

The garden

The flowering cherry is in full bloom so we can now expect windy weather!

This may be a wild flower but it's worth having in the garden, it grows in abundance under the hedgerow and is very pretty.

Return visit and yet another hot, sunny day. We were very lucky.

Firstly this fine bird now has a name - the Cape Barren Goose.

Then we met our old friends - who were as hungry as ever.

The swans were bathing

As were the geese

The flamingos were enjoying a feed

and so were the ducks

and the gulls and the pigeons and anything else that could fly into the area.

The flowering cherry at sunset.

Sunset from the front gate.

Our first BBQ of 2007.
How many shoes do we have to burn to keep warm?

Really don't know what this is (it's not in my book) but it's bill looks ever so slightly painful.
I think this may be a bean goose as it has orange legs and a black and orange bill, please correct me if i am wrong.

The black headed swan is dedicated to my friend Sue!!

Flamingo.

These were quite friendly birds and allowed us to feed them.

Crowned Crane - my favourite.

Mallard with their offspring.

6th April 2007

These photos were taken in Sarah's garden, apart from the 6 regulars she has many visiting wild birds.

Jess spends most of her time in the window on guard duty.

Taken early March 2007 - a bumble bee taking a rest in a warm greenhouse away from the cold weather.

Sheeba on her sheepskin bed - the greenhouse isn't good enough for her!
