Martin Mere and the Heywood Model Railway Group

The day started with thick fog and although the fog did clear the light did not improve. It was nice to see the flamingos out and about again although I didn't walk around outside as we were busy on the information desk.

Heywood Model Railway Group
I am sure we had more male and child visitors than usual and they all headed in one direction!! The displays were excellent but I dread to think of the number of hours spent on creating them.

I found these chaps lurking in the courtyard.

Crosby Garrett, Cumbria

Between Christmas and New year we managed a visit to see Jean in Crosby Garrett. The weather, as you will notice was not good, but the main roads were passable.
All but the last photo were taken from the car window, it was toooooo cold to venture outside!

As we got nearer to Crosby Garrett some of the minor roads were not so good.

St Wilfrids Church Standish and Martin Mere otters

During the last snowfall I made myself go into Standish and actually get out of the car to take some photos. The Church looked beautiful but it's very difficult to get a photo without cars in the foreground especially as they actually park nose in to the Church wall!

Think I have mentioned before that Thai and Ned the Short Clawed Asian otters at Martin Mere have had kits - well here they are! They have now started to venture out, what a time to make an appearance, I wonder what they thought of all the snow. The kits should be learning to swim soon, if they have any sense they will postpone lessons until the weather improves!

Proud Mum and Dad

Gosh what a hard day it's been!

Standish 2009/10 - snow snow snow

December 22nd 2009 the snow started. Little did we know how long it would last!

Then on 5th January 2010 along came the second downfall - almost same views just with a bit more snow!
