Belle, Flick and Penny are now out for most feeds, especially when the sun is out. They are still closely watched by Thai and Ned and are quickly brought to task if they put a foot out of line!

Floods
Sadly Martin Mere was affected by the recent floods. Some areas had to be closed off completely.
Other paths were just passable, like here, the seat to the right of the photo is where I usually sit to watch the black swans.
The beaver enclosure with their lodge in the centre at the back of the pond.
And even our garden did not escape the rain water, we couldn't use our back door for a few days.

Hurray - Martin Mere baby otters meet the public
The otter cubs are now beginning to come out for feed times but are closely guarded by their parents. Today one fell into the water but was quickly saved by a watchful parent. They are unable to swim yet and will need swimming lessons very soon given by - yes you guessed - Mum and Dad.
Sorry the photos aren't very good but they were taken through the glass screen, I couldn't get my prime viewing place as there were lots of visitors today.
We're over here!!!

Otters and Swallows
Still waiting for the babies to show their faces!
These babies were slightly more obliging, there were 4 of them lined up each screaming for the next tasty mouthful to come their way!
Mersey tunnel springs to mind!

Otter family at Martin Mere
Thai and Ned have reproduced again this year - they have 3 female kits born on 13th July. I believe all kits are healthy so should be out with their parents very soon.
Thai and Ned come out for a rest from parental duties for a scatter feed. Just before they came out they were seen taking new straw into the hut either to keep the babies warm or to block their exit!!
The mallards, as enthusiastic as ever, rearing yet more young!

Cedar Farm Mawdesley
Took Ethan to Cedar Farm one day but apart form these lovely goats there wasn't much for a very young child. A Vintage Fair was advertised so I foolishly expected vintage cars etc! Should have done my homework - it cost £1 to go in and it looked like a jumble sale - we didn't pay we turned heel and ran!!
