Around the garden 6th June 07

This car isn't going anywhere without me today!!

My cactus is in bloom again. Unfortunately each flower only lasts for 24 hours - good job there are plenty of them this year!

Around the garden 5th June 07

The ladybird seemed to like my washing basket.

Pied Piper

I think Sarah was a Pied Piper in a previous life!
Nearly all the ducks at Martin Mere know her now.

Martin Mere 2nd June 07

The moorhens do seem to work hard to make their nests, they rummage around will attempt to carry anything they think will be suitable even if it is twice their size.

These moorhens were one step ahead they had already laid the eggs.

I think this crowned crane was still sulking from Anya's visit he would have nothing at all
to do with me today!

Just messing about on the river!!

Bathing at Martin Mere 2nd June 07

As you will see our Northern ducks do wash but they just may be a little camera shy until they get to know you!

Martin Mere robin 2nd June 07

As you will see I am still chasing the robin and one of these days I WILL get close enough to get a good photo!

Chester Zoo

Thursday Chester Zoo got the vote. It was a lovely day but we did have a mixture of weather - from burning sun to pouring rain. We went home to a fish and chip supper but then it was out again in search of yet another sunset. No rest for the wicked in this house!

The seal enclosure really brought back lots of childhood memories - I often used to go and watch them being fed. Their pool is exactly the same as I remember it, it hasn't changed one little bit.

Think this swan may have ended up with a slight headache. He was persistent though, he kept going back for more.

No explanation needed here I hope!?

Lights and sunsets.

In the evening we went in search of the sun then later when the boys were in bed we went out on foot to the m'way bridge to experiment with different exposures - think I need a bit more practice yet. Fortunately we didn't get booked for loitering!

These next 2 photos were taken from the top of Parbold Hill - one the obvious sunset and the other looking in the opposite direction toward the Heinz factory and the Gathurst viaduct.

Whistle-stop tour

I met Anya and the boys in Manchester around 1.30 pm and straight away the hunt was on for the best photo! First was the Dr Who exhibition, think I am really a bit toooooo old to appreciate this properly but I tried! Then we raced home to catch the garden birds - little did Anya know that I had bribed the robin to stay away until Friday afternoon. Well she already has the best robin photo anyway!
