Standish has been taken over by bollards, barriers and temporary traffic lights making the centre a no go area. It is to last for about 6 months and is making life a nightmare! One day last week following an accident the M6 was closed for a while between Orrell and Standish which meant that heavy traffic had to exit the M6 at Orrell and travel through Shevington up to Standish to rejoin the m'way. The same morning an articulated lorry got stuck trying to negotiate lights in the centre of Standish so causing all the normal rush hour traffic to turn around to go into Wigan via Shevington - this obviously made for even more chaos than usual!
Standish Parish Church with Church St much busier than usual due to the diverted traffic. Looks like a lovely village scene but not far from here a friend had a bullet through the living room window one evening - the police of course were too busy to attend.
The garden is really coming to life now, only trouble is - so are the weeds.
